The Budget of the Project is 2 million Euros
Norm Cıvata, one of the leading fastener producer in the world, is also involved in international R&D projects. Norm Cıvata is one of the founding members of EUREKA SMART Advanced Manufacturing Cluster and the first project call from the Cluster was announced in December 11th, 2017. The project, “Cryogenic assisted machining – CryoMach” prepared by Norm Cıvata and partners from Belgium, Sweden and Spain, was received “EUREKA SMART Label” after the technical evaluation of international experts.
Norm Cıvata is the Work Package Leader of Test and Validation in the CryoMach Project and is the only partner received “green light” within the consortium from its own funding institution as a result of the pre-assessment performed by TÜBİTAK.
“R&D is at least as important as production and export”
Stating that with this achievement, they have accomplished the target they have set on “Performing an international project with high R&D quality” suggested by the Ministry of Industry and Technology as a result of R&D Center Audit in 2017, Kamil Başaran, the CEO of Norm Holding has emphasized the importance they’ve placed specifically on R&D.
Declaring that purpose of CryoMach project, having 36 months duration and about 2 million Euros budget, is to prevent excess heating of tools and to extend their life cycles by using cryogenic cooling fluids such as Carbondioxide and Nitrogen instead of conventional cooling liquids used in machining, Başaran said, “Our project was evaluated by international experts and obtained “EUREKA SMART Label”. Besides, TÜBİTAK expressing a positive opinion as a result of the pre-assessment is very precious in terms of both our company and our country. Developing such R&D projects and creating funds contribute significantly to our country as much as exporting considering the current trends, where Industry 4.0 is being spoken. We’ll continue to raise our export and production figures in economic dimension of the business and to make investments in R&D for technological developments”.
